The UAE Federal Tax Authority updates the Whistle blower program for tax violations and evasions

The program (so-called Raqeeb) establishes a mechanism where any person may provide the FTA with information on suspected tax evasion and / or non-compliance with tax laws. Raqeeb covers excise tax, VAT, and corporate tax.

The FTA will pay monetary rewards to informants, where:

• the information provided is credible, accurate and has not been obtained previously by the FTA,
• the violator exhausted all forms of objections and appeals,
• the collected tax amounts exceed AED 50,000.

The update clarified the process of whistle-blowing, extended the coverage by adding the Corporate tax, described common errors of information provision.

This initiative further aims to satisfy the tax society complying with tax legislation.
